The first time I saw Diane Lane was in "Child Bride Of Short Creek" . I think it was a made for TV movie or something like that. Helen Hunt and Christopher Atkins played in it as well. ( Way back in the early 80's) 
She had breast length dutch braids in the movie, as did most of the women portrayed, some longer than that. Anyway, it's a shame she cut her hair. What charity? Locks of Love, or some other one?
