It is a sad thing that people can have such opinions that they forget all about the person in question.

It is very clear that your mother loves her hair very long.

One thing about the so called Fashion: Today it is in, tomorrow it is gone, it is such a superficial thing.

And it is a commercial thing too.

I saw ladies who had cut their hair and after a few months bought extensions as it became fashion again to have long hair or that they changed their mind.

Talk with your mom in a gentle understanding manner and support her that you like her having long hair and that she should grow it back again. Also I would tell her that she should have her own opinion about her long hair. For instance I have a lady student (I am a parttime student becoming teacher English) who has long hair near her knees ! Everybody , yes Everybody looks at her with a kind of how could you have your hair that long.

Well I tell you, she has thick blonde hair which is really beautiful !

And tell your mother that she is beautiful ! So be supportive letting her hair grow back again !
