It wasn't really an ActiveX control, it was Quicktime installing in your start menu.

I have a software called Spyware Blaster that warns me when something is trying to install to run at startup and gives me the option to allow or deny.

You can probably find this freeware if you do a Google search. In the meantime, go ahead and allow the control and then use msconfig to get rid of it.
