Tips to safer surfing:

Don'ts

1. Surf with any form of scripting enabled. (i.e. Java, Active, etc.)

Make sure these are NOT checked in browser.

2. Enable Cookies in browser

(Only on trusted sites: but who can one trust nowadays?)

3. Click the links inside pop-ups that appear from "out-of-the-blue".

Do's

1. Check for frequent (daily?) updates/patches to OS.

2. Use Firewall/Virus and Spyware Scanner.

3. Right-click pop-ups to close them.

4. Use tabbed browsing

5. Close tabs when site loads half-way and gets stuck

(i.e. Maybe trying to load some stuff and can't.)

6. Reset NIC hardware frequently, to close/reset all connections (TCP,

UDP, etc)
