Reminds me of a few different 'high school hair' memories of my own.
My fondest was for a girl named Barbie, short for Barbara but it fit her well. I believe she was a mennonite of some kind, demin skirt and very long hair, a thick and soft ash black/brown that fell to what must have been the middle of her butt. She kept her front in bangs, too, always very nicely kept, very very beautifully shiny. I always wanted to compliment her on it, or even just say hello, but I never had the nerve to. No one really knew what to make of it in grade/high school, but you could tell it was a point of envy for other girls. I remember running into her years later, she was a receptionist at the same hospital I worked at as a computer tech. Where once she was incredibly shy and reserved, she was now friendly and confident, having left her denomination. Unfortunately, she also cut her hair into a wavy bob - while still very pretty, not the same as her classic length, straight and shiny tresses. I'm still happy for her, though, no matter what she's done with her hair.
