I agree with you 100%. Those who give do so without obligation, and only for the upliftment of their own souls.
But that's not the point.
No country on earth can come to American territory with ships and helicopters-- no matter how much they may want to-- unless the United States Federal Government issues an official request to them. To my knowledge the Federal Government has not asked any foreign country for help.
HT's post made a big point of bashing European and Asian countries by saying that "we would not see any help from them", as if we had already asked them and they had *refused* us help.
That is not only incorrect, but it is a cheap, nasty attitude to take. It insults the American lives destroyed in this tragedy by making a shallow political point of it.
I don't want to drag this out into a long off-topic debate about politics. I just want the European members on the forum to know that not every American has an attitude like HT's.
