Re: Some people ruin a good thing

In nature, economics, culture, etc. the pendulum is always seeking a middle ground..."balance." In my opinion, that pendulum has swung too far over. It's time to come back a little.

I'm afraid many people have a sort of cultural sunburn. The slightest thing and they go off the handle. The Italian poet, Dante, may have nailed it. He said God was a comedian playing to an audience who's afraid to laugh. It has almost come to a point where you dare not say anything to anyone because someone may be offended somewhere at sometime.

On the other hand, anyone who puts themselves "out there" online should realize they are open to the world. Sometimes you have to take the fleas with the dog. There will always be some people who are not living in reality and will be disrespectful to some degree (intentionally or not). But rule of thumb for anyone putting anything (including their hair) online; don't put anything online you wouldn't want to see on the front page of your local paper.

Just my two cents (adjusted for inflation that's $1.25)
