try firefox, lot better than internet explorer
u can convert ur movie files on windows movie maker to wmv format which is good for the web.
norton system works comes w/ a connection keep alive tool for dail up connections which is excellent. 
NSW also scans/repairs/maintains ur system costs 30$.
windows xp prof now comes with spyware remover which is excellent
