Because it's hard wired into every man's brain to be attractive genetically. Some just end up with kinks otherwise, or buy into the nonsense the beauty industry tries to sell us.

We here are just more attuned to that very primal allure.

That being said, one of the things that really gets me is when such very long, beautiful hair gets threatened. I highly prefer hair long as it'll healthily grow, but something about that feature being targeted by jealous rivals really excites me.
