I loved Tangled! I don't think it represented long hair as evil...quite the opposite. Rapunzel's hair was magical and lifesaving. Granted I was sad when it was cut, but I think they handled it pretty well. You know, since I was expecting the big cut, it wasn't so bad. I mean, in the original fairytale, the witch cuts Rapunzel's hair to catch the prince, so it wasn't like it came out of nowhere. I knew it was going to happen. The hair as it was animated was glorious...and I saw it in 3D which rocked! Besides, no one is talking about Rapunzel with her short, dark hair...everyone is all about the long blonde hair which is awesome.
I went to see it opening weekend and I wore my hair down, because I just HAD to, ya know? Anywhoodle, as I was getting up to leave when the movie ended, I heard one of the dad's in the theatre say, "Hey look, girls! That lady has hair just like Rapunzel!" I was then bum rushed by a group of squealing little girls who proceeded to pat my hair and chatter like a bunch of tiny woodland creatures. LOL.
One of my college pals has two little girls who are currently obsessed with Rapunzel. She told them that she knew the "real" Rapunzel and asked if I could send an autographed picture to them for Christmas. I wanted to do it up right, so I tried to look as much like the gal in Tangled as I could. What do you think? I figure it'll be good enough for the small set. Like my frying pan? LOL.
