I don't know if there's a clinical disorder as such, but some people try to compensate for lack of positive attention they've had from parents, family & friends by just trying to get any attention at all.


This could be negative attention which is still more desirable than total isolation.


Quite possibly, at some time in the past they've been extremely lonely & isolated. Maybe it's even been used as a punishment when you were a kid. It could have that sort of effect..


The cycle can keep going on into adulthood, until the person realizes they ARE loveable, they dont deserve abuse, and they are worthwhile people capable of love and long lasting positive relationships.
